MARTINS FERRY — A delay for some East Ohio Regional Hospital employees getting their paychecks was the result of a payroll processing issue, the hospital and its bank confirmed Monday.
According to statements from EORH Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini and Unified Bank, a bank issue caused a delay in processing wire transfers to the hospital’s payroll company, Paylocity. Because of that, some employees received their paychecks Friday, others got theirs Saturday and, according to Albertini, the rest were processed Monday.
The timing, according to Albertini’s statement, is dependent on the processing capabilities of individual banks for late wires.
“Please be assured that the payroll was submitted by EORH as usual and in a timely manner,” Albertini said in his statement, adding that EORH officials address the issue with Unified Bank leadership Monday morning. “We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused and appreciate your understanding and patience. … Please understand that we understand the gravity of this situation and are not taking this lightly.”
He said that anyone with questions or in need of further assistance should call the hospital’s human resources department.
Albertini added that employees who incurred any fees due to the processing delay should submit them to human resources to be reimbursed by Unified Bank.
“Unified Bank has acknowledged their error and will cover any late fees associated with this situation,” Albertini wrote.
Unified in its statement also acknowledged the delay and that anyone incurring fees should send them to hospital HR.
“Unified is working diligently with EORH to provide relief to any of their employees impacted by this matter,” the bank’s statement read.
Albertini also said that EORH was open Monday with staff and there had been no police involvement with the issue.
