Babcock Ranch announces planned retail shops, medical services

Babcock Ranch developer Kitson & Partners announced its second shopping center is fully leased and will include more than 12,000 square feet of medical space.

Set to open in 2025, The Shoppes at Yellow Pine consists of 120,000 square feet that will house seven new eateries, multiple national big box and regional retailers, a medical center staffed with primary care and pediatric physicians and an urgent care facility among other tenants, Kitson & Partners officials said.

The medical space is a partnership between the master-planned community 17 miles east of Punta Gorda and Tampa General Hospital system that is expanding services into the Babcock Ranch community.

Last year, Babcock Ranch announced the new TGH Urgent Care was expected to open in 2025. Most recently, the partnership revealed a 6,100-square-foot expansion customized to provide service offerings that best meet the health care needs of the community determined by TGH-hosted focus group sessions with Babcock Ranch residents.

Babcock Ranch’s second shopping center is adjacent to the Publix-anchored Crescent B Commons shopping center.

“The Shoppes at Yellow Pine marks a big step for Babcock Ranch, and we are thrilled to deliver more services to our fast-growing residential population,” said Matt Buehler, senior vice president of commercial development at Kitson & Partners. “This project represents the next phase of a master plan that will see the development of 6 million square feet of sustainable commercial, retail, light industrial, civic and office space for our community.”

Now under construction, Yellow Pine consists of three multitenant outparcel buildings fronting Cypress Parkway and two stand-alone internal outparcels.

Retail tenants will include several flagship national big box retailers, such as Ulta Beauty, Marshalls department store; Ace Hardware and discount superstore Five Below.

An extensive range of new dining and food options include Oar & Iron Raw Bar & Grill, a standalone restaurant on the northeast corner of the site serving steaks and seafood in an upscale setting, Panera Bread; Jersey Mike’s, Five Guys, Papa John’s, Yummy Thai and Chinese and a Carvel ice cream shop.

Other tenants are Verizon, Fountain Pools, Seymour Orthodontics, Tipsy Hair Salon and The Laser Lounge Spa.

“Residents have been asking for more food options, and along with an exciting roster of new restaurants, Yellow Pine will offer three outdoor seating areas for shaded alfresco dining, complementing the indoor seating options at our eateries,” Buehler said. “Health care has been another big priority, and we’re excited that our community will have access to world-class medical services thanks to our partnership with TGH.”

“Construction is about 60% complete, all of the buildings are up, and we’re starting the exterior finishes now,” Buehler said. “The strong interest we’ve seen has been very encouraging. Not only is it confirmation that our sustainable, resilient development model is attractive to major brands, it also speaks to the vitality of our community and further validates that Babcock Ranch is growing into a vibrant town.”
