OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – The community has been asked to avoid the area near an Overland Park shopping plaza as possible explosives were found.
The Overland Park Police Department says that around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, it was called to the area of W. 103 and Metcalf Ave. near an Overland Park shopping area with reports of a possible explosive device found in the area.
Law enforcement officials said the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team has responded as the community has been asked to avoid the area. They believe the explosive to be a live round, however, investigators continue to respond to the area. Little information has been provided.
As of 12:25 p.m., no further information has been released.
