MOORHEAD — The area’s Hornbacher’s and Cash Wise grocery store brands are seeing a number of changes and more are on the way, according to an official with Corborn’s, the parent company that operates both brands.

“We are continually investing in ways to enhance our customer experience,” said Dennis Host, senior vice president for marketing and communications for Coborn’s.

According to Host, one recent change at a number of Hornbacher’s stores was the introduction of self-checkout lanes for customers who “prefer the convenience, ease and speed of self-check.”

He said self-checkout lanes are now in place in at least four Hornbacher’s locations, with the remaining stores to get self-checkout lanes before the end of the year.

“We’ve seen tremendous adoption by our guests already and usage continues to grow,” Host said.

In the case of Cash Wise, Host said significant investments have been made to enhance the Cash Wise website and mobile app, as well as the online shopping functionality of the Cash Wise brand.

Also, Host said, in January an all-new online shopping experience will be introduced for Hornbacher’s customers, including an enhanced rewards program and fuel partnership with Holiday/Circle K stores in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

All of the moves and others, according to Host, “Illustrate our ongoing investments and commitment to the quality and service focus we strive to provide our guests.”

According to Host, Hornbacher’s and Cash Wise locations in the area employ about 1,500 people and Coborn’s is looking to hire even more.

“We actually have numerous openings for a variety of positions across our stores in the Fargo/Moorhead market that we are looking to hire for,” Host said.

According to their websites, Cash Wise has two stores in Fargo and one each in Moorhead and West Fargo, while Hornbacher’s has six stores in Fargo (including a wine and spirits shop), two in Moorhead and one in West Fargo.
