During WWDC 2024, which took place in June, Apple announced that Siri would undergo major upgrades. The tech giant revealed that the new Siri capabilities will highlight the roll-out of Apple Intelligence. But not all features will come to the Apple’s virtual assistant in September with iOS 18. In a report, published by Bloomberg, Apple will push the new Siri features into Beta testing in January next year and will debut for public use around spring. These features are expected to be a part of iOS 18.4 upgrade.
Apple discussed how the new Siri will be able to take command of all the features within the apps, for the time. For instance, with the help of AI, Siri will be able to open individual documents, move a note to another folder, send or delete an email, open a particular publication in Apple News, email a web link, or even ask the device for a summary of an article. But these updates will not come before 2025.
Apple Siri: What will come in September?
This delay does not mean that Siri will not feature any updates in September. The features like ChatGPT integration, a new Siri interface that ditches the old circle graphic for a pulsing rainbow around the inside of the screen bezel, and deeper product knowledge that lets Siri give you basic tech support are expected this fall. Let’s look at them in detail.
ChatGPT integration: Apple has partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into Siri, boosting its generative AI capabilities. This integration allows Siri to handle more complex tasks and provide more sophisticated responses. Users will be able to access ChatGPT through updates to Apple’s iPhone and Mac operating systems, enhancing functionalities like text and content generation. This partnership is part of Apple’s strategy to incorporate advanced AI technologies and remain competitive in the tech landscape.
New Design: The revamped Siri includes a fresh design featuring a glowing light that wraps around the screen edges when activated. This visual update aims to create a more engaging user experience. Beyond aesthetics, Apple has expanded Siri’s functionality with onscreen awareness, enabling it to perform actions based on the content displayed on the screen.
Which devices will feature revamped Siri?
This advanced Siri experience will be available exclusively on the latest iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Powered by Apple Intelligence, the majority of Siri’s new capabilities will be accessible only on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPads and Macs equipped with M1 chips or later.
