Last November, the DOJ asked Mehta to order Google to sell off Chrome, to be prevented from reentering the browser market for five years, to be prevented from investing in potential competitors (such as advertising rivals, artificial intelligence tools linked to search, or other search engines), and to ensure that Android did not favor Google’s own ad services or search engine.
The DOJ also suggested at the time that Google be forced to sell off Android if those conditions were not met.
