Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Minister of Power to discuss important urban infrastructure projects. Urban development, trash management, electric transportation, and the PM KUSUM program—which funds solar water pumps for farmers—were among the main subjects covered.

With a focus on the role of renewable energy in sustainable development, Chief Minister Naidu asked the Union Minister for cooperation in positioning Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in green hydrogen efforts. One of the main topics of debate was also the construction of housing and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

The AMRUT project, which was introduced in 2015, intends to upgrade 500 Indian cities and towns’ urban infrastructure, including stormwater drainage, green areas, water supply, sewerage management, and non-motorized urban transportation. For the duration of the mission, State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) totaling INR 77,640 crore have been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

At this meeting, Khattar promised full assistance for carrying out these efforts, while Naidu emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s dedication to renewable energy and sustainable urban development.

To improve its economic and development prospects, Andhra Pradesh is pushing forward with a number of important infrastructure projects in 2024. Among these are the Visakhapatnam Light Metro project, which aims to improve the efficiency of urban transportation, and the Visakhapatnam Chennai Industrial Corridor, which promotes industrial expansion and draws noteworthy investments. While initiatives like Kurnool’s Energy Cloud Storage Platform and Polavaram Lift Irrigation Project concentrate on agricultural innovation and agricultural enhancement, respectively, the Bangalore Vijayawada Expressway seeks to increase connection and cut down on travel times. These programs demonstrate the strategic efforts Andhra Pradesh is doing to promote regional economic growth and sustainable development.
