Must read

After launching Android 15 in October last year, Google is now working on its next project. In just 3 months, the company might get started with the beta version of Android 16. The speculation is that Google will release the first beta version of Android 16 this month. That said, a new leak reveals launch dates for the upcoming beta version. It looks like Google will launch the second and third beta versions in February and March, respectively. While the stable version release is still under wraps, after this leak we can assume that it might launch earlier than the Android 15.

Android 16 beta version launch dates

As per the latest leak, spotted by the Android Authority, Google is ready to push out beta versions of Android 16, before it can launch a stable one. The information comes from a comment on the Android Gerrit, where a Google employee, most likely, shares tentative release dates for the Android 16 betas. According to the comment, Beta 3 is expected to be released on March 12.

While the leak specifies that the Android 16’s first beta version is scheduled for January 22, there is no official notification so far. Similarly, the Beta 2 is expected to arrive on February 19.

More importantly, this new information suggests that Android 16 could achieve platform stability by mid-March, setting the stage for Beta 4 to arrive in April or May, with a stable release potentially before the end of Q2. While this may still be a few months off, it’s earlier than the mid-October rollout of Android 15 last year.

Android 16: What to expect

Android 16 made headlines a few days back for its upcoming features. The rumour has that the upcoming OS could feature revamped volume controls, a sharper UI and enhanced accessibility. A few new features that are speculated to come with the Android 16 are health records, better adaptive refresh rate, enhanced security and privacy.

A few reports have also indicated that it might also improve battery performance. However, since Google is yet to share the details, we expect you to take this information with a pinch of salt. That said, January 22 will certainly clear the air around Android 16.
