Google started rolling out Android 15 last week, but for some Pixel 6 series owners, the update is causing some significant issues.
Android 15 isn’t a huge update, but it does bring some new features along with it. It’s also the last major update Google is delivering to its first Tensor-powered smartphones from the Pixel 6 series. But, for some users, there are some big issues.
As noted by the folks over at Android Police, a number of users have run into showstopping-issues that effectively brick their devices. Multiple users have found their devices stop working after using Private Space. Worryingly, these affected devices appear to be just entirely dead, with no life even after common troubleshooting steps such as plugging into a computer and holding the Power and Volume Down buttons to boot the device. Some users have also found their devices just randomly stop working after installing the update.
Google has yet to acknowledge the issue, but this isn’t the first issue Pixel 6 devices have run into lately.
Back in July, a bug on Pixel 6 series devices caused a factory reset to entirely brick the device. Google later fixed the problem, so it stands to reason that this latest batch of problems will be patch through future updates as well. In the meantime, avoiding the Android 15 update, or at least avoiding the Private Space feature, would be advisable.
