Anderson-Lee Library announces June events

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, at 43 Main St., has announced programming for the month of June. Programs are free and open to the public.

Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by,, message us on Facebook, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!

Events include:

— Silver Creek Children’s Fair, Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Come visit us at the Silver Creek Children’s Fair in the ballpark behind the library. Make a bookmark, dance in the bubbles from the bubble machine and pick up information about summer reading, “Adventure Begins at Your Library!”

— Preschool Storytime for children ages 2-5 on Thursday, June 6 with Miss Jill at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Pre-registration is requested.

— School Age Storytime for children 6-12 years of age on Thursday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. with Miss Amy. Stories, crafts, games, and other activities are offered. Pre-registration is requested.

— Lego Club for ages 5-12, Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! A limit of 10 children and pre-registration is required.

— Make a Summer Solstice Sun Catcher, Tuesday, June 18 at 6pm. All ages are invited to join us to create a suncatcher using embroidery hoops, contact paper and dried flowers to celebrate the summer solstice! Please register in advance as the number of participants is limited. No walk ins please.

— Adventure Begins at Your Library Summer Reading Registration Monday, June 24 to Saturday, June 29. Stop in anytime the library is open this week to register for summer reading. Those up to 17 in age receive a free book for doing so. Pick up a schedule of all our summer reading festivities!

— Storytime for all ages with Nan Hoffman, Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. Join us for our annual concert with Nan Hoffman! She will help us kick off “Adventure Begins at Your Library”!

— Summer Reading Kick-off Petting Zoo, Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. Join us in the ballpark behind the library to register for summer reading and visit the farm animals of Sun-Dance-Kids Farm! Participants ages 0-17 receive a free book.

— The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to attending each week. Please stop in and stitch!

— Chess Club: All skill levels are welcome to attend Chess Club! We will meet on Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m.. For ages 10 and up and registration is not required. Please stop in and play!

Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
