Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is teaming up with TikTok (BDNCE) to enable e-commerce shopping on the short video content app, The Information reported on Thursday, citing an Amazon spokesperson.
The report said the partnership will enable TikTok users to buy items from Amazon advertisements without leaving the video app.
“In-app shopping with Amazon is available for select products advertised on TikTok and sold by Amazon or by independent sellers in Amazon’s store,” the Amazon spokesperson told The Information.
The collaboration with TikTok complements Amazon’s existing arrangements with Pinterest (PINS), Meta Platforms (META), and Snap (SNAP).
Previously, Amazon ads on TikTok and Instagram would take people to a link that redirects them to the company’s shopping website.
But with new ads, users can link their social media accounts to their Amazon profiles and check out within the social media apps using the payment and shipping information they’ve stored with Amazon, the report said.
According to screenshots reviewed by The Information, the social media ads also show more details a shopper would find on Amazon’s site, including prices, estimated shipping times, and Prime eligibility.
