Air France, KLM and SAS have agreed codeshare and interline agreements that will include reciprocal loyalty programme benefits and enhanced connectivity across the three carriers’ respective European networks.
As part of the deal, Air France and KLM customers will gain access to 33 destinations in Northern Europe via SAS’s network, while customers of the Scandinavian carrier will be able to connect to 33 additional destinations in Europe via Air France and KLM’s respective hubs at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Amsterdam Schiphol airport.
Intercontinental destinations will be added to the agreement “in the near future”, according to the carriers.
The agreements will enter into force on 1 September, 2024, when SAS officially joins the SkyTeam alliance, of which Air France-KLM is a founding member. This will enable members of Flying Blue and EuroBonus, the respective loyalty programmes of Air France-KLM and SAS, to earn and spend points on all flights.
Eligible EuroBonus members will also be able to access additional SkyTeam benefits such as priority boarding and check-in and lounge access.
“These agreements mark an important step towards a close commercial cooperation between Air France, KLM and SAS,” said Angus Clarke, chief commercial officer at Air France-KLM. “We look forward to further developing this relationship and to strengthening our position in the Scandinavian region.”
SAS commercial chief Paul Verhagen added: “The collaboration with Air France-KLM holds great opportunities. It will not only attract new passengers to SAS, but also elevate SAS’ global visibility and connectivity. We are looking forward to a successful, long-standing collaboration together.”
Air France and KLM operate up to 200 weekly flights between their hubs and SAS’s bases in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.
SAS currently operates up to 44 weekly flights to Paris CDG and 65 weekly flights to Amsterdam Schiphol.
