If you are a Floridian of a certain age, you might remember when the Home Shopping Network was a common sight on the airwaves and was an employer for Floridians because it is headquartered in St Petersburg. In fact, Forbes once ranked it as one of America’s best employers and one of the best employers for women. There are even still some Home Shopping Network Outlet stores in Florida. However, things are soon going to change because the company has announced that it is leaving Florida after 47 years.
The Beginning Of HSN In Florida: According to Women’s World Daily, the network began in 1977 by selling canopeners on a Clearwater radio station. It would eventually expand to TV in the Tampa Bay area in 1981. It went nationwide in 1985, but would maintain its headquarters in the Sunshine State.
In 2023, Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of Home Shopping Network, laid off 400 people after revenue dropped 14%.
The Announcement That HSN Is Leaving Florida: In late January of 2025, HSN disclosed that it was leaving its massive 369,000 square feet St. Petersburg headquarters for West Chester, Pennsylvania. The company’s campus is in a highly desirable area of St. Petersburg at 2501 118th Avenue North. It is not clear if the campus will be sold. In a statement referring to Florida, Stacy Bowe, president of HSN brand, said, in part:
“We have the deepest appreciation to the state of Florida and the St. Petersburg community for their support and dedication over HSN’s 47-year history. We look forward to continuing to delight our customers as we make this transition to our new home.”
