The National League Division Series resumed on Sunday, and the Phillies have evened their series against the Mets at 1-1 after a wild 7-6 win in Game 2 at Citizens Bank Park. Nick Castellanos played the hero with a walk-off win after the Phillies and Mets traded blows in the later innings of the game.
Does playoff baseball get any better than this? The Phillies’ win over the Mets in Game 2 on Sunday afternoon was an instant classic, capped off by Castellanos’ heroics to walk it off and even the series at one game apiece.
The Mets were in control through the first five innings of the game, with Luis Severino dealing and Mark Vientos giving New York a two-run lead with a homer in the third inning. The boo birds were out at Citizens Bank Park. Pete Alonso added a solo home run in the sixth, but then Philadelphia came alive. Bryce Harper and Castellanos went back-to-back, tying the game 3-3 with home runs of their own.
Brandon Nimmo countered in the seventh with a solo homer before Philadelphia punched back in the eighth on a two-run triple from Bryston Stott and a defensive miscue from Vientos … who would then tie it back up with a ninth-inning home run.
But the Phillies weren’t done, and put together a two-out, ninth-inning comeback after back-to-back walks by Trea Turner and Harper. Castellanos’ walk-off hit put an exclamation point on a stunning Game 2.
The series shifts to New York on Wednesday for Game 3.

Christopher Sanchez has his second 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 4th. After getting J.D. Martinez to ground out, Sanchez struck out Starling Marte and Francisco Alvarez to end the inning.
Starling Marte error nearly leads to a Phillies run
Cue the “Yakety Sax” music for this third-inning sequence.
Kyle Schwarber flew out to right field, and Starling Marte attempted to double off Johan Rojas getting back to first base. But an errant throw allowed Rojas to get to second. He advanced to third on a stolen base but was stranded when Trea Turner struck out.
We’re on to the fourth inning with the Mets leading 2–0.

The Mets strike first with two runs in the third inning. Francisco Lindor gets a one-out single, and Mark Vientos follows with a long fly ball over the right-field fence for a 2–0 Mets lead.
