Better Business Bureau warning of ‘declined credit card’ scam

Must read

There’s a new credit card scam and the Better Business Bureau has some tips to avoid it.

The scam involves a website saying your card has been declined when in reality it hasn’t.

Victims end up being charged after they are told the card was declined.

To avoid this only buy from legitimate websites, watch out for fake promotions, and if you’re unsure check out the company at the BBB’s website.

“After retrying a card or changing cards and then contacting their financial institution, they find out the transactions did go through and this was just a scam to get more payment information,” warns BBB President & CEO Michele Mason.

Avoid clicking on pop-up ads and of course if something looks too good to be true it probably is.

To be safe use a credit card as those charges are easier to dispute.
