Havre High School Utilizing Special People For Special Week

Must read

Havre High School athletics is halfway through the fall sports season for football and girls’ volleyball and even more so for golf and cross country. New Media Broadcasters caught up with athletic director Mark Irvin, who gave praise to his student-athletes for this season, saying they have mastered the in-classroom aspect of what they do, but also how they interact with people on the road.

“All of our programs have represented Havre High well,” Irvin said. “For me, it’s really nice when I get an email out of the blue from somebody that I don’t know from one of the places we travel to and complement our kids on just their behavior in public.”

“I think it’s a testament to the way our kids represent their teams and our school and our community,” Irvin continued. “The fact that we’re putting good people out there to compete and represent us and they’re good students as well. So proud of them.”

What the Blue Ponies have contributed to their fields has taken a backseat to how they conduct themselves as people. They will get the chance to do so this week with homecoming festivities, which include the parade on Friday before everyone makes their way down to Blue Pony Stadium for the Havre football game against Lockwood. Irvin put a bow on the legacy that this year’s Blue Ponies will leave behind for homecoming week.

“(It’s a) very busy week, but a very fun week (and) very exciting week for the kids,” Irvin said. “You get a lot of adults and students involved in that. It’s very tradition-heavy here in Havre.”

“They have older brothers, older sisters, parents, and family members that have talked about when they were at Havre High when they did their homecoming,” Irvin continued. “It’s neat now that this generation gets to experience that.”

“We’re pretty excited. We feel like we have a great lineup this week and we’ve had a lot of kids involved,” Irvin said. “It should be fun.”
