South Decatur wins the Mid-Hoosier Conference volleyball championship after knocking off Waldron in three sets last night. It’s the Cougar volleyball team’s first conference title in 24 years. Makayla Somers led South Decatur with 27 assists, two aces, three kills, six digs, and two total blocks.

It was North Decatur over Milan in three sets. Madi Allen had 10 aces and three digs for the Chargers.
Batesville took two from South Ripley in the two teams’ third meeting in less than three weeks. The Bulldog varsity team won in four sets to improve to 16-3 on the year. Batesville won the jayvee contest in two sets.

In middle school volleyball, Batesville defeated Jennings County in three sets in 7th grade play, while the Bulldog 8th graders fell in three sets.

In boys soccer, Greensburg lost at Connersville 3-2 on a late goal by the Spartans. The Pirates drop to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the EIAC.

The Greensburg junior high girls’ cross-country squad won the 15-team Columbus Central Classic. The Pirates Eleanor Davis was the first runner to cross the finish line. The Greensburg boys placed fifth.

A pair of Milan athletes took top honors in their respective sports, according to this week’s ORVC Report. Emma Voss recorded 32 kills, three blocks, 91% serving, nine aces, 45 digs and 85 kill assists in six matches to garner the volleyball co-player of the week award. The Indians’ Gabe Riehle is the boys’ cross-country runner of the week after posting times of 17:27 and 16:14 at Milan and South Dearborn, respectively. The Reds lost 6-1 last night at Cleveland in Freddie Benevides’ first game as interim manager. The two-game series wraps up tonight. Coverage begins at 6:10 on 103.9 WRBI.

The Indiana Fever take on Connecticut tonight in game two of the WNBA playoffs. The Sun leads the first round series one game to none.
