BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Ada County Sheriff’s Office says Highway 21 is closed between South Technology Way and East Warm Springs while crews work an active fire.
Boise Fire says the road closure is in place while its crews are at the scene of a brush fire near South Eyele Avenue and East Plexi Court.The fire is burning approximately 350 acres.
Boise Fire resources include one BC, five engines, and two brush rigs. Eagle Fire and BLM are on the scene with resources as well. Boise Police is assisting with drones. There are no reported injuries. Crews are working to protect structures and contain the fire.
Boise School District says some schools are experiencing power outages and delayed transportation due to the fire.
Power is out at Les Bois Junior High as of 7:30 a.m.Trail Wind Elementary was restored.
The district is planning on holding classes at all district schools today. Due to poor air quality, all outside activities will be held inside. A decision about after-school extracurricular activities will be made later today and communicated by individual schools.
The district adds:
Authorities have shared that no evacuation is presently needed and that crews are working to restore power. Of course, if parents choose to keep their child at home, they certainly can do so, and we ask that you contact your school’s attendance line if you choose to keep your child at home today. Any absence will not be counted against student attendance requirements.
Idaho Power also reports an outage near the fire affecting 1,154 people that started at 5:51 a.m. on Thursday.
The cause is unknown. Crews are onsite at the event and restoration is estimated for 9 a.m.
