Batesville finished with a perfect score of 15 at last night’s girls cross country four-way meet at Greensburg. The host Pirates finished with 66, followed by North Decatur with 70 and South Decatur at 97. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Kaylynn Bedel, who won the meet with a time of 21:19.
Batesville took the boys meet with 19 points, followed by Greensburg with 42, North Decatur at 87 and South Decatur with 111. Senior Jake Chapman led the Bulldogs and earned the blue ribbon with a time of 17:22.
Greensburg volleyball fell in straight sets at Greenfield-Central Wednesday night. Senior Leah West led the way for the Pirates with four aces and 10 kills. Victoria Stier also had 10 kills.

The Reds were shut out by the Pirates 7-0 last night in Pittsburgh. The Pirates scored six runs in the 5th inning off Reds starter Nick Lodolo, who had held the Buccos hitless through the first 3 2/3 innings. Lodolo ended up with 10 strikeouts but was tagged with the loss. Game two of the series is tonight. Andrew Abbott starts for Cincinnati and will be opposed by fellow lefthander Bailey Falter.
The Indianapolis Colts topped the Bengals 27-13 last night in Cincinnati in both teams’ final preseason game. The coaching staffs will now make final cuts to meet next Tuesday’s 53-man roster deadline. Indianapolis opens the regular season at home on September 8 against the Houston Texans, while the Bengals entertain the New England Patriots that Sunday.
