Ohio Is The 15th Lowest Ranked State According To A New Study

A new list ranking American states is circulating, but Ohioans may not want to look at it.

A list by the U.S. News & World Report claims that Ohio ranks as the 36th best state in the United States. Thousands of data points were reportedly considered in determining which states were the best. Things like public safety, the states’ economics, infrastructure, and more pertinent details were all considered.

Categories the state ranked highest in include fiscal stability (17) and opportunities (20). Ohio came in No. 33 in the category of crime and corrections, No. 27 in education, No. 35 in healthcare, No. 41 in natural environment and No. 30 in infrastructure. 

The top three best states, according to the U.S. News & World Report, are Utah (#1), New Hampshire (#2) and Nebraska (#3). The bottom three states are Mississippi (#48), New Mexico (#49) and Louisiana (#50).

The most populated U.S. states had some surprising placements. California, which has the biggest population in America, ranked #37. New York, the state with the fourth largest population and home of the biggest media city in the world, ranked #23.

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Buckeye State. According to a different report by PrimePutt, Ohio does rank in the upper half of the most sports-obsessed states in the U.S. According to their 2023 report, Ohio is the 19th most sports-obsessed state. Their report also lists swimming as the state’s most popular sport.
