The Reds knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 last night at Great American Ball Park. Hunter Greene pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts to improve his record to 9-4 on the year. Alexis Diaz earned his 24th save. Cincinnati jumped out to a 4-0 lead, thanks in part to a solo home run from Ty France in the 2nd inning, and a two-run blast in the 6th by Jeimer Candelario. Spencer Steer added an RBI single. The Reds look to complete the three-game series sweep tonight. Emilio Pagan gets the start for Cincinnati; the Cardinals will send Righthander Kyle Gibson to the mound. Bengals Punter Brad Robbins left the field before yesterday’s practice with a hip flexor. Backup Quarterback Jake Browning has a rib issue and is expected to miss time. The team travels to Chicago today prior to a joint practice with the Bears on Thursday. The two teams meet in preseason action Saturday afternoon at Soldier Field.
The Colts are hosting the first of two joint practices with the Arizona Cardinals tonight in advance of the two teams’ preseason game Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s also Fan Appreciation Day, with events taking place at Colts City from 4-8 p.m.
