Manchester United vs Real Betis predictions

A combination of keeping his job by the skin of his teeth along with big-money signings must make every match seem like a must-win for United manager Erik ten Hag.

So far, in his preparations for the new Premier League season, it’s fair to say Ten Hag’s team have been somewhat underwhelming.

United started with a 1-0 defeat to Rosenberg in Norway. In defence of the manager, it was a very makeshift side that took on the mid-table Eliteserien team.

The Red Devils then produced a far better performance, defeating Rangers 2-0 at Murrayfield with goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill.

Things looked on the up as United headed stateside to start their USA tour.

In their opening tour match against Arsenal, Rasmus Hojlund put them 1-0 up after 10 minutes. But then in typical United fashion, things went wrong again as Ten Hag’s team slumped to a 2-1 defeat to the Gunners.

After Thursday’s match against the Spaniards, United faces Liverpool in Columbia at the weekend. After that, it’s the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Friendlies or not, it’s fair to say that United could do with some positive results out of their final two US-based matches before they take on their Manchester rivals.

Managed by former-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis come into the match against United with mixed results from their recent two friendlies.

The Spaniards started with a 5-1 win away to Austria Salzburg. They followed that up with a tight 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the opening match of their US tour in Pittsburg at the weekend.

The match against United is their final fixture in the USA before they return home to face Al-Ittihad and Bayer Leverkusen (away) before they start the new La Liga season against Girona.

Despite the result, United didn’t play badly in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. With the Community Shield against City just ten days away, we expect United to raise their game further when they take on an undercooked Betis.

Manchester United to win – 11/10 (bet365)

Real Betis didn’t impress in their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend.

The Spaniards only managed 37% possession and one shot on target from their seven attempts on goal.

Their performance was one of a side starting their preseason preparations, while United looked much sharper in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Betis don’t kick off their La Liga season until August 15th, five days after United face City in the Community Shield. They look a match or two behind United in their preparations for the new season.

A much-needed win for the Red Devils looks on the cards.

⚽ Bet on United to win at 11/10 with bet365 ⚽

Man Utd to score over 1.5 goals – 4/5 (bet365)

Rasmus Hojlund looks set to miss out, but Manchester United still has Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount to lead their line against Betis.

None of the trio are guaranteed a place in the starting lineup for the Community Shield or United’s Premier League opener against Fulham the following weekend.

So all are likely to be keen to make an impression against a Betis team that failed to land a glove on Liverpool.

United managed one goal against Arsenal but did have ten shots on goal, four more than the Gunners, who only managed six.

The problem was that only three were on target.

Furthermore, United scored twice in their match against Rangers, in which they also had ten shots on goal with only three on target.

Creating chances doesn’t seem to be the problem for United. It’s more about putting the ball in the net.

New coach Ruud van Nistelrooy will have had time to work more with the strikers in the US.

Expect his influence to grow in the coming weeks. If anybody can teach United’s forwards to score more, it’s the Dutchman.

We’re backing him to have an impact against Betis.

âš½ Tip – United to score over 1.5 goals at 4/5 with bet365âš½

Marcus Rashford to score anytime – 7/4 (Sky Bet)

With Rasmus Hojlund picking up an injury in the defeat to Arsenal and new signing Joshua Zirkzee unavailable, Marcus Rashford looks set to lead the line against Betis.

The striker enjoyed a good first season under the management of Erik ten Hag, but things went a bit wrong for the 26-year-old last season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has joined the club as part of Ten Hag’s coaching staff and one of his jobs will be to help Rashford refind the spark that went missing last season.

If it is the case that Rashford wants out, then he will want to show possible suitors that he is worth buying.

Or, if the Manchester-born forward wants to stay, this is a huge chance for him to stake a claim for a place in the starting line-up against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

âš½ Back Marcus Rashford to score any time at 7/4 with Sky Betâš½
