Two NELA airports receive funding as part of Sen. Cassidy’s infrastructure package

WASHINGTON (KNOE) – The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is granting money to two Northeast Louisiana airports as part of U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Louisiana is receiving a total of $7,141,716 for airports across the state, and $413,550 of that is going to the NELA region. The Town of Jonesville is receiving $341,550 to update the existing airport master plan study, and Concordia Parish Airport Authority is receiving $72,000 to install new lighting on the terminal apron.

“Airports are the gateway to a city, drawing in businesses, investors, and families,” Cassidy said. “This funding from the Infrastructure Law will support airport improvements throughout Louisiana to make our communities more attractive for opportunity.”

The following projects across the state received money from the same package:

  • Airport Authority District No. 1, Calcasieu Parish
    • $1,720,000 to reconstruct the airport general aviation building access road and terminal access road
  • Shreveport Airport Authority
    • $1,672,542 to expand the Shreveport Regional Airport main terminal with more gates, passenger areas and facilities, passenger boarding bridges, association apron, and demolition and relocation of air traffic control tower
  • City of Bogalusa
    • $705,000 to rehabilitate the taxiway connector pavement and main apron pavement at George R. Carr Memorial Air Field
  • Chennault International Airport Authority
    • $630,000 to install new lighting on Taxiway G
  • Rapides Parish Police Jury
    • $504,001 to update the existing airport master plan study
  • City of New Roads and Pointe Coupee Parish
    • $411,560 to reseal runway, taxiway, and apron pavement at False River Regional Airport
  • Acadia Parish Police Jury
    • $349,923 to install landside perimeter fencing and access gates at Le Gros Memorial Airport
  • City of Slidell
    • $306,000 to reconstruct the taxi lane midfield pavement at Slidell Municipal Airport
  • Avoyelles Parish Airport Authority
    • $208,328 to rehabilitate runway lighting at Marksville Municipal Airport
  • City of Thibodaux
    • $150,000 to reseal runway pavement and joints at Thibodaux Municipal Airport
  • Beauregard Parish Airport District No. 1
    • $70,812 to reseal runway pavement
