Google’s Find My Device network is launching in the UK soon

Must read

After a lot of build-up, Google finally launched its new Find My Device network in April 2024, but it only came to a few regions to start. Early reviews for Bluetooth tracker tags that are compatible with the network have panned the performance of Google’s answer to Apple’s Find My Network — so far, the biggest issue is a lack of devices that are fully enrolled in the network to boost its coverage. While Google’s decision to make the network opt-in by default is questionable and will still play a role in its reliability, one thing that could help is expanded availability — after all, none of this works if there aren’t Android phones nearby to ping off of. To that end, Google is now sending out emails to some users in the UK informing them of the network’s pending rollout in the country. “The Find My Device network is coming soon,” reads the email, which is the same language used in emails sent out in the days before the network rolled out in the US. Here’s hoping expanded availability leads to increased adoption.
