Google TV launched a catalog of free channels last year and has been adding to it ever since. Recently, Google has unveiled even more free channels, with its total now including more than 130 free streaming channels.
The “FAST” – Free Ad-Supported Television – channels on Google TV have become one of the platform’s biggest highlights. Well over 800 channels are available to users on streaming boxes and TV sets without any login or setup required. However, only some of those channels are Google’s. At launch, roughly 80 channels were available.
As of June 2024, that total has jumped up to over 130 (but still only in the US, as it has been since launch).
New Channels Spotted on Google TV
The latest batch of new free channels on Google TV includes 10 new channels as noted by StreamingBetter. The recent additions comprise:
- FilmRise Western
- ION+
- Johnny Carson TV
- Noticias Telemundo Ahora
- Property & Reno
- Real Disaster Channel
- Supermarket Sweep
- The FBI Files
- World’s Wildest Police Videos
- Yahoo Finance
This batch brings the total up to 132, up from our last check-in back in November when the total was 117. A few others had quietly been added back in March of 2024 as well.
Commitment to Enhancing Free Channels
Google TV continues to double down on these channels. A new advertising network for its free channels, which Walmart’s latest Google TV streaming box even has a dedicated button for, was announced last month.
An Advertising Network with Benefits
The Google TV network offers numerous benefits for advertisers, including access to a large and diverse audience at a lower cost
. Advertising on FAST platforms is relatively cost-effective. CPMs for ads on FAST services range from $10 to $15, significantly lower than premium streamers like Hulu and Netflix. This affordability makes FAST an attractive option for advertisers looking to maximize their reach without breaking the bank.
Additional Features and Future Prospects
An update to the “Find My Remote
” feature is also available, enhancing user convenience.
Expanding Device Ecosystem
The ecosystem is expanding too. Asus recently launched its first smart monitor integrating Google TV. This release is part of a broader feature update that promises more integrations and enhanced functionalities.
