Unlocking foot traffic: Retailer-centric approaches to boosting shopping visits – ET Retail

ETRetail recently organised the 2nd edition of ShopFwd Summit 2024 where the industry experts discussed how retailers can boost the visits of consumers at their physical stores.

In retail, a lot of research papers have been published highlighting how to manage consumers who have come into the stores. However, this panel delved deeper into how to improve footfall.

Focussing on how to get more consumers to the stores, Ankur Damani, Country Head- India & Sri Lanka, Triumph said, “The brands first to need to understand their who their target consumer is and then make strategies on how to bring them on board. For our existing offline customers, we have a loyalty program, and with technology, it is becoming more fruitful, engaging, and easier to target the right consumers. We use educate and engage with our consumers to bring them back to our stores. And as far as new consumers are concerned, we interact with them to make them understand what the brand stands for.”

Adding to this, Anupam Bansal, director – retail, Liberty Shoes said, “Retail experience and product quality help us to drive the footfalls at our stores. We offer a large number of SKUs and it further compels consumers to come back to us for different product categories.”

Whereas Akhil Jain, executive director, Madame stated, “We have implemented various metrics to keep a track of the consumers like numbers, genders, etc and then target the right consumer to walk into the store.”

Bringing in the mall’s perspective, Surjit Singh Rajpurohit, CEO, Amanora Mall said, “For malls, footfalls is never a challenge, but bringing in the quality football is the biggest challenge. We bring freshness to the mall by organising various events, and festivals and partnering with various brands to compel consumers to visit the mall.
