Loveland hospital ranked No. 2 in Colorado by U.S. News and World Report

Loveland is home to a top-ranked hospital in Colorado.

UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland has been named the No. 2 hospital in the state and the top hospital in Northern Colorado by U.S. News and World Report.

Medical Center of the Rockies was recognized as being high-performing in cardiac care, lung and prostate cancer surgery, back surgery, hip replacements and gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, according to a news release from UCHealth.

Medical Center of the Rockies tied for second in the state with Intermountain Health St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Two other UCHealth hospitals also made U.S. News and World Report’s top five rankings: UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora and UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

“Our exceptional patient outcomes stem from our team’s unwavering commitment to delivering the highest levels of care every single day,” Medical Center of the Rockies President and CEO Kevin Unger said in the news release. “We are dedicated to serving our community and are honored that patients trust us with their medical needs.”

The goal of ranking the best hospitals nationwide “is to provide information to patients who are often confronted with multiple health care options,” senior health data scientist Min Hee Seo said in a statement announcing the U.S. News and World Report rankings. Rankings are based on 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.

Here are the top ranked hospitals in Colorado, according to U.S. News and World Report:

  • No. 1: UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora
  • Tied for No. 2: UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland and Intermountain Health St. Joseph Hospital in Denver
  • No. 4: UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs
  • Tied for No. 5: Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs and Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree

The UCHealth hospital system was also named one of the county’s top-performing hospitals by The Lown Institute, which ranks health care systems in social responsibility, health care value and patient outcomes.
