A WALMART shopper had abandoned hundreds of dollars in groceries after a series of issues at the store.
After a Walmart+ perk failed to work and a manager disrespected her, the shopper left without her $350 in groceries.
Walmart customer Emily Low felt she had no other choice but to leave the retailer after a poor shopping experience.
In a Facebook post from last August, she explained the situation that went down at her local Walmart in Demopolis, Alabama – around 91 miles from Birmingham.
She shared how she is a Walmart+ member and uses the mobile scan and go feature so she can scan and bag her items as she shops.
Low attempted to pay at a self-checkout kiosk but it “froze” so an employee directed her to a second and third register.
While at a new register, another customer checked out on the first register she used and his groceries were charged to her American Express card.
Low noted that at that point, her whole shopping list was deleted from her Walmart app so she was going to have to unpack her groceries and rescan them.

Walmart’s Scan and Go system was created to help customers scan items as they shop, pay, and leave without waiting in long checkout lines.
The retailer describes the new system to be done in a few easy steps:
- Customers first need to have the Walmart app downloaded on their phones with their location access enabled.
- On the Store Mode landing page, shoppers must click the Scan and Go option.
- Customers can scan each item and place them in their carts as they shop.
- At the end, they’ll be prompted to view the cart to make sure the quantity on the app matches the ones in their carts.
- Shoppers will press “Check Out” and head to a self-checkout kiosk.
- They’ll be prompted to scan the provided QR code at the register and confirm their payment method.
- Once the transaction is complete, shoppers can leave the store without worry.
Before doing so, she headed to customer service to get a refund for the other shopper’s grocery purchase on her card.
The Facebook user said that 40 minutes later, she was able to get a partial credit back to her American Express card.
“The manager they called to get the full amount added back said it couldn’t be done and walked away while I was talking to her!” she fumed.
That was the last straw for Low, who ditched her $350 worth of groceries after shopping for two hours.
“To the sweet lady at customer service who apologized for the poor treatment I received from management, you should be the manager! I wouldn’t have left all of that food sitting there,” she wrote.
CUSTOMER CRITIQUE
Fellow Walmart shoppers in the comment section sympathized with the user and critiqued the retailer for its poor customer service.
“They are SO RUDE!” bashed one Facebook user as another wrote, “I’m so sorry you were treated poorly.”
Others offered the shopper advice on how to amend the situation.
One suggested reporting the manager to corporate while another advised calling American Express because it is “extremely pro customer.”
The shoppers didn’t have the same sentiments about Walmart.
Many shared how they detested the retailer for its environment and lack of customer service.
“I hate going in there,” wrote one user as another shared they always do pickup instead of in-store shopping.
“I do not like our Walmart at all! They stand around and watch us do all the work! It’s ridiculous!” said another shopper.
Several other Walmart shoppers have abandoned their carts after a substandard shopping experience.
One customer left a cart of groceries worth $200 after the retailer changed its checkout process.
A second shopper walked out of Walmart due to self-checkout – the manager’s response was “ridiculous.”
