Talpa Network upgrades IP broadcast infrastructure with Lawo

Must read

Talpa Network, a prominent broadcaster in the Netherlands, has collaborated with Lawo to upgrade its broadcast infrastructure. This upgrade involves the implementation of advanced audio technologies across its facilities in Hilversum and Amsterdam.

Talpa Network, known for its popular TV and radio channels, including Radio 10, 538 and Sky Radio, aims to establish an audio, video and communication network using IP technologies to enhance the efficiency of its infrastructure and resources.

“We want to enable efficient use of our external connections and infrastructure by leveraging cutting-edge IP technologies,” said Mark de Jong, technology architect lead at Talpa Network. “With this new infrastructure, we aim to integrate various production environments to meet production demands and facilitate the sharing of technical resources.”

Following market research and a proof of concept with multiple vendors, Talpa Network selected Lawo for its IP technology. The network has extensive experience with Lawo’s audio technology, including the VSM IP broadcast control and workflow solution, which integrates with most broadcast equipment and allows for custom workflows from a single user interface.

“We have installed Lawo .edge to integrate with other vendors’ equipment and establish an IP communication network,” said de Jong. “Our central management systems, VSM and HOME, enable us to route signals such as ST2110 streams, providing easy access for production without concern for the underlying technology.”

The installation also includes Lawo’s HOME Apps for agile broadcast operations. These apps and standalone multiviewers ensure seamless monitoring of audio sources for global events and broadcast operations.

Lawo Project Manager Rudi Antonissen stated, “We are proud to collaborate with Talpa Network on this transformative project. By combining Lawo’s technology with Talpa Network’s vision, we have created an infrastructure that sets new standards for efficiency and scalability.” Lawo Sales representative Hans Beks added, “We are excited to continue our partnership with Talpa Network and support their mission to deliver world-class content to their audiences.”
