EA Sports College Football 25 will feature NFL stars in Ultimate Team, according to a report from USA Today’s Jordan Mendoza.
“Breaking: EA Sports College Football 25 will feature current NFL stars in ultimate team, (USA Today) confirms,” Mendoza wrote. “So players that couldn’t be in a college football video game, like Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, will be available to play as.”
So what does this mean exactly? Remember when Burrow was at LSU and there was no college football video game? Well, be prepared to turn back the clock.
“EA Sports has worked with the NFL Players Association to bring current NFL stars back to their college days in the College Football Ultimate Team, USA TODAY Sports confirms ahead of the ultimate team mode reveal on Tuesday,” Mendoza wrote.
“The deal means video game players can play as college version of NFL players that were in college when there was no video game. Meaning people can play as Patrick Mahomes when he was stuffing the stat sheet at Texas Tech, Joe Burrow when he had his legendary season at LSU and Christian McCaffrey when he ran all over the West Coast at Stanford. NFL players that just got to the league — like C.J. Stroud, Sauce Gardner and Puka Nacua — will also be available to use in the ultimate team mode.”
We’re going to say it now, if you use 2019 LSU that’s just unfair. At least in terms of teams that ran college football over the last five-plus years.
For the more experienced gaming crowd, that’s like using Bo Jackson in Techmo Bowl. It should be illegal to use “Joe Burreaux.”
EA Sports College Football 25 is one of the most anticipated video game releases of all time. With over a decade between editions of the college football game, it’s about time.
Updated game modes, much-talked about team ratings and heck, the transfer portal and NIL are in the game. Name, image and likeness was the biggest reason for no game for the last 11 years.
But with many players opted into the game, you no longer have to fully customize a roster. It’s one of the most anticipated gaming features in recent memory.
So not only can you use current college players and teams, get ready to use prime time Mahomes and Burrow with their college attributes. Remember when Mahomes threw for approximately 7,000 yards in a game?
Okay, not that many, but still. Have fun!
