Nearly $3 million coming to Nevada to support rural infrastructure

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – Nearly $3 million from the Community Development Block Grant has been approved for projects throughout the state of Nevada, including here in Washoe County.

$40,000 was approved for the Gerlach Infrastructure Update Project, while $494,250 was approved for the construction of the Sidehill Dr. Pedestrian ADA Improvement Project.

“I am pleased to announce the allocation of a $2.9 million Community Development Block Grant to support vital projects in rural Nevada,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “This funding will enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth, reaffirming our commitment to fostering a strong future for our state’s rural communities.”

Nevada counties and cities invested an additional $1 million in matching funds for the projects.

“The CDBG program provides federal funding for critical infrastructure projects in rural Nevada communities,” said Jessica Sanders, CDBG program administrator at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “These projects support rural economic development and have sustainable benefits to rural communities and the state of Nevada.”

Other projects around the state the money will go to are:

  • $671,625 for the construction Morley Ave Water/Sewer Project in the City of Ely
  • $210,000 for the Mt View Hotel Preliminary Engineering Report Project in Lincoln County
  • $800,000 to for the construction of the Pioche Airport Rd Phase III Project in Lincoln County
  • $700,000 for the construction of the Pahrump Fairgrounds Utility Improvement Project in Nye County
