Washington: Google has filed a patent application for a new feature that will be added to Google Maps, and will help a group of people driving to the same location receive step-by-step guidance to this single destination.

According to Google, the first driver identifies the destination and invites other drivers heading to the same location to join, and all group members must be Google members, the company explained the feature’s working mechanism, and the estimated ETA access time will also be available to all group members, and Google Maps can recommend speed adjustments so that all group members reach the destination at the same time.

The patent application also indicates that Google Maps can add a voice call app that allows group members to communicate with each other during the trip.

Google Maps will be able to use traffic conditions obtained from the flagship vehicle to alert others about traffic jams and accidents and when there is an alternative route necessary to avoid significant delays, the leading vehicle can also provide other people with information about where to park, which will allow other members of the group to know where they must park in advance before they arrive.
