Pi Pizzeria closing its last remaining location, in St. Louis’ Central West End

Must read

ST. LOUIS — Pi Pizzeria is slated to close as the business looks for a buyer.

Located at 400 North Euclid Avenue in the Central West End, Pi Pizzeria is the latest beloved St. Louis restaurant to announce closures in recent weeks, including Spencer’s Grill in Kirkwood, Bulrush near Midtown and The Taco & Ice Cream Joint on Cherokee Street.

Pi’s last day will be Sunday.

The pizza joint’s closure is, in part, a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and a 2022 building fire that shuttered nearby eateries such as Salt+Smoke, Mission Taco Joint and Ranoush, according to St. Louis Magazine, which first reported the news.

Pi opened in 2008. Later that year, then-Senator Barack Obama ate the restaurant’s signature deep-dish pizza during a campaign stop in St. Louis and enjoyed it so much that he invited Pi to serve pizza in the White House in 2009.

The business previously had locations in the Delmar Loop, downtown, Kirkwood and Washington D.C., but all have since closed.

The restaurant served both deep dish and thin crust specialty pizzas, in addition to salads, desserts and appetizers.
