Rich Heley, formerly of Apple, Meta, and Tesla, has joined as Chief Device Officer. He will oversee the development of the Orb, a hardware tool created by Tools for Humanity for Worldcoin’s iris scans, regarding design, functionality, and accessibility.
The new Chief Privacy Officer is Damien Kieran, who was the Chief Privacy Officer of Twitter (now X). Kieran aims to establish new industry standards for privacy protection and compliance by collaborating with authorities and data privacy officers worldwide.
The controversy around Worldcoin’s biometric data collection aside, the demand for AI and machine learning is increasing for online fraud detection and verifying human identity, crucial as half of the world’s population will vote in elections this year.
As the Chief Information Security Officer, Adrian Ludwig, formerly Google’s Director of Android Security, joins. Ludwig will be in charge of Tools for Humanity’s internal and external data security.
Last but not least, the Head of World ID will be Ajay Patel, who oversaw the identification team at Google Payments. Patel will take the helm of World ID’s public and private partnerships, go-to-market strategy, and overall user experience.
Worldcoin has faced scrutiny from data regulators, with its iris scanning operations reportedly violating Hong Kong’s data protection principles, as stated by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.
