Once again U.S. News and World Report has released its “Best States of 2024” list, and the First State falls right in the middle of the pack.
The report measures the state’s performance looking at a state’s economy, public safety, education and others.
Delaware ranked fourth in fiscal stability, ninth in health care and 21st in economy. Bringing the ranking down was ranked 26th in infrastructure, 32nd in crime and corrections, 33rd in education and 43rd in natural environment.
According to U.S. News and World Report, more weight was given to some categories than others, based on a survey of what matters most to residents, for example, health care and education. Next came state economies, infrastructure and the opportunity states offer their residents.
Fiscal stability followed closely, along with measures of crime and corrections and a state’s natural environment. Delaware fared better than some of its neighbors, with Pennsylvania ranked 40th overall and Maryland ranked 22nd overall. New Jersey is ahead of Delaware, ranking 14th overall.
