BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Senator Katie Britt is talking about IVF protection, border security, and infrastructure spending.
IVF protection
Following the Alabama Supreme Court ruling on Invitro Fertilization, Sen. Britt says it left uncertainty for Alabama families.
Sen. Britt partnered with Sen. Ted Cruz to create the IVF Protection Act. The bill would ensure no states prohibit access to IVF services.
“I wanted to make sure that moms and dads across the country, parents who are praying for a child, whether it’s their first or those who are looking to expand their family, had the certainty that they knew that IVF would be protected,” says Sen. Britt.
Border Security
Sen. Britt criticized how the Biden Administration has handled border security. One problem, in particular, she says is the transportation of fentanyl into the country and the deadly impact it has left on the U.S.
“We actually know where it’s coming from. It’s coming from China, it makes its way to Mexico, it makes its way across the border. It’s killed more people than you can even comprehend, truly,” says Sen. Britt.
Infrastructure Spending
The news broke last week that work has started on the first section of the Birmingham Northern Beltline. Sen. Britt says to make Alabama competitive in the 21st century, intentional investments in infrastructure are key.
“We know that when you do make those investments, it spurs economic growth. That economic growth creates good-paying jobs for hard-working Alabamians. That’s what we want. We want people to have access to the American dream and investing in these projects allows us to achieve that.”
