Canada face Chile in the final group-stage game of the 2024 Copa America, with a chance to qualify for the knockout phase in their debut tournament.
Jesse March’s side began their tournament with a respectable 2-0 defeat to Argentina and were perhaps unlucky to not come away from that match with a point, given their performance.
A follow-up win over Peru means that Les Rouges are now in a great position to finish in the top two in their group and advance to the quarterfinals, but they face a Chile side who are seeking to recapture their former glories after falling from the heights of winning this tournament back-to-back in 2015 and 2016.
Ricardo Gareca’s team did seal a point as they played out a stalemate vs. Peru in their opener before being narrowly beaten by Lionel Messi’s Argentina at MetLife Stadium.

Canada vs. Chile prediction, odds
- Moneyline lean: Canada win (+270)
- Score prediction: Canada 2-1 Chile
While Canada are making their debut appearance at this tournament and experience is against them, they’ve played well so far and deserved to pick up a vital three points vs. Peru last time out. A win against Chile would seal their place in the knockout stages of the competition, although the sportsbooks think that they will have a tough evening. Marsch has got his side set up well and they look organized in both defense and attack. Don’t be surprised if this one is more competitive than it might look on paper.

Canada vs. Chile best bet
With both teams desperate for a win as their tournament hopes rely on it, we could see an incredibly open match with the game flowing from end to end.
That should ensure there will be goals scored in this game and combining both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is a nice bet, despite their matches being low scoring so far.
Canada vs. Chile prop bet
Copa America’s officiating has been under scrutiny and when the stakes are high, there’s been plenty of cards shown.
In the USA vs. Panama game there were eight cards brandished and in this final group game the stakes will be even higher.
The referee, Wilmar Roldan, has been accused of handing cards out too frequently in the past, especially when Brazil faced Ecuador in 2022 when he showed FOUR red cards (two of which were rescinded by VAR).
If you don’t quite think Canada can win the entire game you could look at placing Les Rouges to win either half. There was a stark contrast between their opening 45 minutes against Peru and their far more authoritative second-half showing, in which they scored the winner through Jonathan David. Given that, it might be a good choice to take them to win one period again.
