The City of Dunkirk’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series continues this Thursday with Pop Night on the Dunkirk Pier. The concerts are presented by DFT Communications with stage sponsor National Grid and production company Advanced Production Group (APG).
Sponsored by Chautauqua Opportunities, the featured bands include local favorite Ion Sky from 5:25 to 6:25 p.m. and headliner XOXO Pop Band from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Ion Sky is a local Dunkirk four-piece band, originated in 2010 that performs a variety of music including rock, country, pop and alternative music. The band was voted your 2023 Chautauqua County Reader’s Choice “Best Local Band” by The Post-Journal and OBSERVER.
Ion Sky is influenced by many popular artists of today including Cee-Lo-Green, Jason Derulo, Sugarland, Bruno Mars and Walk the Moon, while also sticking to the classics of Journey, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Benatar and the Rolling Stones.
Band members include Tara Graves (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar/Keys), Gregg Stranahan (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Jack Pasquale (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Bradley Heath (Drums//Cajon/Vocals).
XOXO Pop Band has been performing throughout Western New York and other out of town events since 2017. XOXO specializes in pop and rock including hits from Van Morrison and The Beatles to Beyonce and all the tunes you want to hear.
Jessika Schreiber is the lead singer with Garrett Shea (vocals/keys/guitar), Steve Mattucci (lead guitar), Nick Barnhard (bass) and Alex Chambers (drums).
The pier will be closed to traffic at 2 p.m. Thursday until Friday morning at 8 a.m.
Food trucks and other vendors will be on site along with the city’s beverage tent. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding businesses will also be open. Guests are reminded to bring a chair. Dunkirk event brochures are available from the board atrium or Dunkirk City Hall.
