Must read

MUMBAI: The government of Odisha and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) have jointly released a paper titled “Disaster Resilient Power Systems for Odisha.” The measures required for investments, risk-informed governance, and building capacity for catastrophe resilience will be made possible by the recommendations.

“The resilience of the power sector to extreme weather events is pivotal in safeguarding lives and livelihoods, particularly those in vulnerable regions. Recommendations from our study on climate and disaster resilient power systems can be applied across coastal regions to enable disaster resilient power infrastructure,” said Amit Prothi, Director General, of CDRI

The CDRI report on resilient power infrastructure, according to the papers, outlines a process for boosting the resilience of the electricity sector in coastal regions—especially those hit by hurricanes, cyclones, and floods.

The papers went on to say that important recommendations included improving wind zone regulations and standards, incorporating risk assessments into financial planning, including the resilience element in policy, and implementing training and capacity building programs.
