Amey launches programme to employ military personnel – Scottish Business News

Engineering and infrastructure firm Amey has unveiled a new initiative aimed at helping military personnel transition into civilian careers.

The Service to Success programme offers direct employment pathways for service members during their resettlement period, focusing on leveraging their unique skills.

Unlike traditional approaches, Amey’s programme engages with military personnel before they leave service, providing tailored support and training to ease the transition.

Amey developed the initiative in collaboration with the Forces Transition Group (FTG) and BuildForce, organisations experienced in addressing the challenges of military-to-civilian transitions.

Andy Milner, Amey’s CEO, said: “We are incredibly proud to develop the Service to Success military programme, which reflects our deep respect and commitment to the Armed Forces community.

“This programme not only acknowledges the exceptional skills veterans bring from the military but also ensures they have the support and opportunities available to thrive in their new careers.”

The programme builds on Amey’s existing Elite Armed Forces Veterans initiative, launched earlier this year, which focuses on senior military personnel.

Key features of the programme include:

  • Personalised skills assessments
  • Employment training
  • Mentor connections
  • Stress management workshops
  • Access to employee assistance services
  • Job matching using a transferable skills matrix

Amey has a long history of supporting the UK’s Armed Forces, having provided services for over 100 years.

The company is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and recently renewed its Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) status from the Ministry of Defence.

John Stephenson, Managing Director FTG, said: “Amey has been instrumental in the success of the FTG and our mission to solve the transitional space.

“Out of over 200 partners, they currently sit in the top three organisations for successful hires within our business.

“We look forward to experiencing the Service to Success programme and enhancing the growth seen in our first year as partners.

“Congratulations Amey, you have been truly spectacular”.

The launch of this programme comes as Amey continues to strengthen its relationship with the military community.

Earlier this year, the company renewed its partnership with BuildForce, an industry-led programme connecting veterans and service leavers to construction sector opportunities.

With this new initiative, Amey aims to address the skills gap in its sector while providing valuable opportunities for those transitioning from military service.
