New board members at JD Bank, Boys Town Louisiana

Michelle Hardy and Yolanda Dixon have been named as recipients of the 2024 Leadership Baton Rouge Alumni Association Community Leadership Award.

The award is presented to people who have succeeded in their chosen field and have participated in community activities supporting greater Baton Rouge.

Hardy, who was part of the Leadership Baton Rouge Class of 2018, is the director of public affairs and community relations for Turner Industries. She serves on boards and key committees of organizations such as the Capital Area United Way, Associated Builders and Contractors and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge.

Dixon was a member of the Class of 1994. She is secretary of the state Senate. She has received honors from Baton Rouge Business Report, the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the National Conference of State Legislatures and Girl Scouts Louisiana-East.

The awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. June 18 during the LBRA Membership Luncheon at Drusilla Seafood, 3482 Drusilla Lane. Tickets are $50 and be purchased at leadershipbr.org/events.

Shelita Mundy Jones has joined the board of directors for Boys Town Louisiana.

Jones is the chief academic officer for the New Orleans Public School System. She has more than 20 years of experience with school systems across metro New Orleans, including serving as director of performance and accountability at Warren Easton Charter and Algiers Charter School Association, and principal of George Cox Elementary in Jefferson Parish.

She earned a bachelor’s from Southern University, a master’s in educational leadership from Our Lady of Holy Cross College (now University of Holy Cross) and a master’s in counseling from Loyola University New Orleans.

JD Bank has formed a Bank Advisory Council for its Baton Rouge and northshore regions.

Members include Ryan Bodin, of Mandeville; Jeff Breland, of Slidell; Carrie H. Calvin, of Slidell; Preston Castille Jr., of Baton Rouge; Bobby DeAngelo, of Baton Rouge; and Paige Hall, of Zachary.
