Health Connect is Google’s official tool for linking various health services. The service is now a part of Android 14 and will be part of future Android versions as well. However, you can download it if you’re running an older version of Android. While being a core part of Android is a pro over Health Sync, Health Connect is also free. To access Health Connect on Android 14 or newer, find it in Settings > Privacy > Health Connect.

To sync Samsung Health to Google Fit using Health Connect, we must allow Samsung Health to write data to Health Connect.

  1. Open the Samsung Health app.
  2. Tap the three-dot main menu icon, then select Settings.
  3. Tap Health Connect.
    • At this point, you may need to enable Health Connect access in Android’s Settings menu. If this is the case, tap OK on the dialog that appears. Health Connect will now open. Tap App permissions, then select Samsung Health.
  4. Toggle on the data Samsung Health is allowed to write to Health Connect or toggle on Allow all.
    • Importantly, the write permissions list is located beneath the read permissions list. Keep scrolling until you see the Allowed to write subheading.

Next, we must allow Google Fit to read the data written to Health Connect by Samsung Health.

  1. Open Google Fit.
  2. Tap the Profile tab in the bottom right, then the Settings icon at the top right.
  3. Toggle on Sync Fit with Health Connect.
  4. On the next page, tap Set up.
  5. Toggle on the data Google Fit is allowed to read to Health Connect or toggle on Allow all.
  6. Tap Allow.
  7. Tap Done.

Google Fit will now read the data written to Health Connect by Samsung Health. If you need to manage permissions of either app, you can do so directly from Health Connect.

How to sync Samsung Health to Google Fit using Health Sync

If you want an alternative to Health Connect and are willing to pay up, Health Sync is a viable option. Before Google’s solution was available, we recommended Health Sync for its excellent functionality. Notably, Health Sync has broader platform support, making it a better solution for syncing more obscure services.

You can download the Health Sync app from the Google Play Store. Note that Health Sync gives users a one-week trial, after which you can either subscribe to the app or pay a one-time fee for a permanent license. Nevertheless, the trial period is long enough to provide an adequate experience, so you can decide if the latter is worth it.

After you install the Health Sync app, here’s how to use it to sync Samsung Health data to Google Fit:

  1. Open Health Sync. Read the First Usage Actions dialog and hit OK once complete.
  2. Choose the Sync Direction on the next screen. Select Samsung Health as the base app, and Google Fit as the second app on the next screen. Tap OK.
  3. The next screen will confirm the two apps you’ve chosen and the sync direction of the data. Read the Declaration of Consent by tapping on the box. Tap Accept once you’ve read through the document.
  4. You’ll need to install Samsung Health and Google Fit on the next screen on your phone if you haven’t already.
  5. Once you’ve installed both apps, tap Check Google Account Connection. Select and authenticate your Google account on the next screen.
  6. Once complete, an Initialization Finished dialog will appear. Tap OK to continue.
  7. Finally, the last step is selecting the fitness data categories you wish to sync between Samsung Health and Google Fit.
  8. Tap on the categories you wish to sync. Remember that both Google Fit and Samsung Health will ask permission to transfer that data for each category.

If you’ve set up Health Sync correctly, the app will display Sync status: OK. If there’s an issue, the app will communicate the reason for the problem, making troubleshooting pretty easy.
