Gerald R. Kozlowski, 87, of Dunkirk passed away Monday evening, March 11, 2024 with his family by his side. Born on July 21, 1936 in Dunkirk to the late Louis and Helen (Olszowa) Kozlowski.
Gerald graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School in 1954 before bravely serving in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. During his service, he achieved the rank of Airman Second Class and proudly served during the Korean Conflict.
Throughout his life, Gerald’s warm and loving personality shone through. He was known for his generosity, good sense of humor, and unwavering presence whenever someone needed him. Family was at the core of Gerald’s world, and he especially treasured moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He found joy in simple pleasures like taking daily rides around the Dunkirk Point and Pier, listening to Jimmy Buffet and passionately supporting his favorite sports teams – the Detroit Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, and New York Giants.
His memberships include the First & Fourth Ward Falcon Club, Moniuszko Club, Dom Polski and the Conservation Club.
Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Janice (Miller) Kozlowski; loving children: Julie (Fred) Renckens and Richard Kozlowski; sister Audrey Hamernik; grandchildren: Ryan Kozlowski, Nicholas (Monica) Kozlowski, Trevor (Alyssa) Kozlowski, Jeffery (Kara) Utegg, Brandon (Chelsea) Renckens; as well as great-grandchildren Peyton, Carter, Kendall, Roman, and Penelope.
Preceding him are his parents Louis and Helen (Olszowa) Kozlowski and brother Norman Kozlowski.
Graveside prayer services and Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Dom Polski on Lakeshore Drive in Dunkirk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dunkirk Lighthouse PO Box 101 Lighthouse Point Dunkirk NY 14048 in memory of Gerald.
