While not all searches will get an AI Overview, there’s no option to turn this feature off completely, as it’s a part of Google search now. Luckily, developer Avram Piltch came up with a Chrome extension called Bye Bye, Google AI, essentially hiding the AI Overviews block from the results page. According to the developer, Bye Bye, Google AI also has the option to turn off discussion blocks, shopping blocks, featured snippets, video blocks, and sponsored links.
Unfortunately, a common problem with similar extensions is that Google can easily block or break them. If the company makes any changes in the code, the JavaScript in the extension may no longer be able to locate the AI Overview blocks to hide them.
