Personnel moves at Avondale Terminal, Baker Donelson, The Grill Room

Amanda England has been named vice president and general manager of Avondale Terminal Services, a subsidiary of HOST.

England has nearly 30 years of expertise in terminals, shipping, and logistics. She joined HOST as director of logistics in 2019. Before that, she served as vice president of Castleton Commodities International and led the expansion of Henry Bath’s U.S. warehouses.

She earned a bachelor’s from Catherine College in The Netherlands.

Kristina Samples has been named general manager of The Grill Room in the Windsor Court.

Samples started as a server and worked her way up through various positions in New Orleans dining establishments.

Eric De Santis has been hired as sommelier of The Grill Room.

De Santis spent the last 12 years managing the service and wine programs at Justine, Trenasse and Commander’s Palace.

Liz Yager has been hired by Magnolia Community Services as development director.

Yager has nearly 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and professional fundraising in the Greater New Orleans community.

She previously served as development director at NAMI New Orleans, executive director at Temple Sinai and development director at Jefferson Council on Aging.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Ivey Business School at Western University in London, Ontario.

Ngina (Gina) Benoit has joined Magnolia Community Services as client care coordinator.

Previously, Benoit served as program director for youth consultation services working with young people dually diagnosed with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Benoit also served as a clinician for the State of New York’s Developmental Disabilities Service Office.

She earned a bachelor’s in psychology from the City University of New York and a master’s in psychology with a forensic concentration from the University of Southern New Hampshire.

Brett Gordon was appointed as president & CEO of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.

In addition to years of strategic, financial and general management experience, Gordon has worked extensively in organ and tissue donation as both chief financial officer and chief growth officer of Mid-America Transplant in St. Louis.

Joseph P. Briggett has joined Baker Donelson as shareholder in the New Orleans office.

Briggett focuses his practice on bankruptcy and workout law and has a diverse commercial practice that spans various areas, including bankruptcy and restructuring, creditors’ rights, commercial litigation, transactions, loan documentation and corporate law.

He earned a bachelor’s from Tulane University and a law degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University Law School. While in law school, Briggett was the appellate intraschool moot court winner.

Baton Rouge

Jeremy Brady has been hired as creative director for BBR Creative.

Brady has more than 15 years of creative experience, building and leading creative teams to enable fandom for brands such as Yelp, GitHub, HubSpot, Cartoon Network, Chick-fil-A, Sprite and the NBA. His work has been featured in publications such as AdAge and AdWeek.

Jennifer Cooper will join the faculty of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in the fall semester.

Cooper has served as an associate professor of the practice of law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law since 2018. Her focus is on legal writing, legal analysis and oral advocacy

She previously served as visiting assistant professor of lawyering skills at the Seattle University School of Law and an adjunct professor in the online master of jurisprudence programs at Tulane University Law School.

She earned an undergraduate degree from LSU and a law degree from Seattle University School of Law. Cooper was a staff writer and editor for The Reveille, a KLSU DJ and served as editor of the Seattle University Law Review.

Shauna Sanford has been hired as director of communications for Woman’s Hospital.

Sanford previously served as assistant deputy chief of staff for former Gov. John Bel Edwards. She started her career in television, working as a reporter, producer, host and anchor for broadcasters including WAFB-TV and Louisiana Public Broadcasting in Baton Rouge and WWL-TV in New Orleans.

She earned a bachelor’s from Howard University.

Tim Harris has joined RES Contractors as president/chief executive officer.

Harris was most recently the site director at Eastman in St. Gabriel. He began his career in the Navy as a nuclear-trained submarine officer and then held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in industry.

He earned a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Tulane University and a master’s in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
