UT Extension to host educational sessions, shopping opportunities – WBBJ TV

JACKSON, Tenn. – Spring is almost here, and University of Tennessee Extension Western Region has announced their lineup of horticultural events scheduled from March to May.

Participants can attend educational courses, shop local plants, engage in hands-on workshops and more, all while networking with local experts and gardening enthusiasts. With programs available for hobbyists and commercial growers alike, this year’s events include:

  • Yard & Garden Expo (Lauderdale County) – March 8, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Ripley High School – $10 per person
  • Horticulture Workshop (Shelby County) – March 25, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dixon Gallery & Gardens – $55 per person, preregistration required
  • Spring Fling (Shelby County) – April 4 and 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Agricenter International – Free to attend
  • Oakland Springfest (Fayette County) – April 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., West Jr. High School– Free to attend
  • Fayette Cares Plant Sale (Fayette County) – April 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oakland Elementary School – Free to attend
  • Lawn & Garden Expo (Tipton County)– April 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Brighton High School – Free to attend
  • Master Gardener Plant Sale (Hardeman County) – April 26, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Bolivar Farmers Market – Free to attend
  • Spring Plant Sale (Madison County) – May 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center – Free to attend
  • Master Gardener Plant Sale (Dyer County) – May 3, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dyer County Extension Office – Free to attend

“Our events are always packed with information, plants and fun, it’s the perfect opportunity to grow your passion for the natural world,” says Celeste Scott, UT Extension Western Region’s horticulture Extension specialist. “Whether you are new to gardening or already have a green thumb, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
