TONKAWA, OKLA (KOKH) — The City of Tonkawa has extended their date of restoring water service from Wednesday, Feb 26, to Saturday, March 1.
Tonkawa had originally declared a water emergency on Friday, Feb. 21.
The water issues throughout the city are due to winter weather that recently passed through Oklahoma.
Tonkawa issued a precautionary boil order that recommends only using bottled or boiled water when preparing food as a measure to reserve water.
The City of Tonkawa attributes the pushback on water restoration to setbacks and infrastructure hurdles.
Portable water trailers are available for public use and bottled water distribution sites are open for the public.
