As it turns out, it’s actually not to soon to chat about 2025 wardrobe heroes—especially if you’re paying attention to what the people are wearing on repeat in Paris. It’s true that we’re still a couple of weeks away from Paris Fashion Week, when everyone will really be paying attention—but this isn’t about the Big Outfit Energy of the street-style galleries. I’m more here for what chic locals are really wearing as they go about their business, just catching the Metro to work or maybe having a little mid-week dinner in the Marais.
The fashion capital is already showing commitment to a handful of items, all of which nod to that certain classic sense of style we associate with Paris, but still are undoubtedly on-trend. From some (extremely) buzzy denim to our new go-to easy top (that looks low-key expensive), not to mention the most investment-worthy chic flat shoes of the year, these are the 2025 wardrobe staples that Parisians are already wearing on repeat.
Bootcut Denim
I assume that, by now, even if you weren’t inclined to tune into the Superbowl half-time show, the social media aftermath has still managed to infiltrate your feed—including the sartorial sensation that was Kendrick Lamar wearing the gentle flare of slightly slouchy, bootcut denim. Those Celine Marco jeans have obviously already sold out, but there are plenty of other options on the market, as well as on the streets of Paris.
Elegant Boat-Neck Tops
Oh look, it’s our new go-to black top! Low-key yet so elevated, thanks to a neckline that never fails to upgrade a basic top into expensive-looking territory. Long-sleeves are naturally where we’re at, but I’m also throwing in just one boat-neck tank from Madewell because it’s bound to sell out, and I know you’re just going to be so glad to have it ready to roll come spring.
Cozy, Neutral Jackets
Couldn’t be more thrilled about this one, considering I’ve barely taken off my double-faced faux-shearling jacket since December. Jump on the staple in any shade of neutral—cream, tan, black, brown, taupe—and prepare yourself for people not wanting to pull away when they give you a hug.
Chill, Minimalist Loafers
Feel free to take this as a sign that those low-key loafers you’ve been eyeing are absolutely worth buying. There’s no shoe style I’m seeing embraced as wholeheartedly by fashion people not just in Paris, but New York, Sydney, London, basically everywhere I’ve been the past few months. Definitely investment-worthy, although you can easily snap up a pair for a steal.
Leather (And Vegan Leather) Midi-Skirts
A midi-length leather-look skirt might just be the most underrated trans-seasonal piece. It works as well with knee-high boots and a sweater in February as it does a ribbed tank and chic leather flip-flops in September. My favorites are the styles that lend themselves to being belted, but don’t let that stop you. (Ugh, I didn’t even get to talk about skinny belts in this story! Put a pin in that, I’ll be back.)
