SAN ANTONIO — A ceremony was held to celebrate the launch of a significant road and infrastructure improvement project in the Crownwood neighborhood.
On Friday, February 7, 2025, Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert led the groundbreaking ceremony at the intersection of Moonlit Ridge and Serene Ridge.
“A very good morning here in Crownwood. Crownwood I think has its crown back because today we are going to pave some roads, said Commissioner Calvert ” Considering you’ve waited nearly 45 years to have your streets redone it was time to celebrate as a community.”
The project aims to enhance streets and sidewalks, focusing on improving accessibility and safety for residents.
Phase 1 of this multi-million dollar street rehabilitation project is set to commence on February 10, 2025, followed by Phase 2.
“We started talking to Commissioner Calvert, we had him come out, we had city public works come out, we had a lot of walking up and down the streets. And a lot of conversations where Commissioner Calvert said yeah you guys really need some street work here,” said Beverly Lee, former President of the Crownwood Homeowners & Renters Neighborhood Association (CHRNA). “The wholes were bad, we had bad drainage, we had flooding in our homes because the drainage wasn’t very good. So we ended up getting it before the commissioners’ court and he fought to get it approved.”
