Tempe company to be featured in Super Bowl ad

Must read

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — On Super Bowl Sunday, Arizonans watching the big game will see a commercial for Google Workspace featuring Tempe company Solestial.

“It’s super exciting! It’s a life milestone,” said Solestial’s Andy Atherton. “My biggest goal is to get the people of Arizona more excited about space. We have a product, solar panels for spacecraft, that’s a relatively focused market, so it’s not something you would normally advertise on the Super Bowl, but I think it’s an opportunity to help people understand all the cool stuff that’s happening in space.”

The commercial is part of a Google campaign to highlight how small businesses are using artificial intelligence. There are 50 stories of 50 companies. Each ad will air locally.

“You started a business because you love being a baker or you’re an artist. What you might not be is a great marketer or have a finance degree. Well, AI can help you with all of that,” said Harris Beber, a workspace expert for Google.

Beber says it’s a challenge to communicate what AI actually is and what it can do.

“It is the challenge,” he said. “In fact, why we’re doing our Super Bowl campaign in this way is because the biggest inhibitor of AI is not AI’s capabilities. It’s people not understanding how to use AI to help them.”

Maybe AI summarizes an email thread or helps shape a marketing pitch. For Solestial, it’s about productivity.

“It was unclear to me how those two stories were going to be woven together, but the team did a fantastic job,” Atherton said. “We couldn’t be happier with the spot.”

Solestial’s 43 employees previewed the ad together this week, ahead of its Super Bowl debut.
